New Delhi, June 19 (IANS) Newly-appointed Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge took charge of his portfolio Wednesday, a statement said.
Railway Board Chairman Vinay Mittal briefed him on various important issues concerning the ministry including the priority areas, said the statement.
Kharge was given the charge during the latest cabinet reshuffle Monday. He earlier held charge of labour and employment, which has now gone to veteran Congress leader Sis Ram Ola.
The 72-year-old Kharge is a Lok Sabha member from Gulbarga constituency in Karnataka.
