London, June 13 (IANS) Ever thought how much did it cost you to ultimately find your true love? A survey in Britain has revealed that the quest to find true love costs an average Briton around 11,000 pounds (about $17,238).
The study, commissioned by Britain’s biggest cashback site Quidco.com, of 2,000 people, found along the way that they will go on 13 first dates and 11 romantic dinners. Despite shelling out more than 100 pounds on a typical first date, seven of these occasions will end in “disaster”, Daily Mail reported.
Many of those polled admitted having made it a point to cut back on the cost of going out once they were engaged, to save for their wedding. From those tentative first dates to walking up the aisle, it all adds up to an incredible 10,754.73 pounds.
The first year of a relationship is an expensive affair, costing the average love-struck adult 3,629 pounds, the study said. But this drops by about 1,000 pounds during the second year as couples settle down and spend less on romance, averaging about 131 pounds per date.
This goes down again when couples decide to marry. From the time of their engagement until the big day they will spend an average of 120 pounds on each date, the survey revealed.
