Astana (Kazakhstan), June 26 (IANS) Iran outclassed all competition at the Asian Weightlifting Championships here to lift the meet title. Indian lifters came in second.
Iran’s Rashid Sharifi claimed the gold medal in the super heavyweight class by lifting 191 kg in snatch, 226 kg in clean and jerk and 417 kg in total Tuesday, reports Xinhua.
Also, Iranian lifters Jaber Behrouzi, Rasoul Taghian and Sohrab Moradi claimed the gold in 69 kg, 77 kg and 85 kg weight classes, respectively.
In the 94kg class, Yasin Bagheri of Iran claimed a bronze and Iranian Mohsen Bahramzadeh bagged the silver in the 105 kg class.
Iran claimed the championships title with 564 points, followed by India and Chinese Taipei with 490 and 474 points, respectively.
