New Delhi, June 13 (IANS) A joint delegation of industry lobby FICCI and the SAARC Chamber called on Pakistan High Commissioner Salman Bashir here Thursday and expressed hope that bilateral economic relations would prosper under new Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
The delegation met Bashir at the Pakistan High Commission.
The team, which included Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry secretary general A. Didar Singh, and SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Vikramjit Singh Sahney, expressed happiness over the “recent positive momentum in the relations and enthusiastically welcomed Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s vision of better relations with India”, a Pakistan High Commission statement said.
Bashir conveyed that “Pakistan wanted good neighbourly and mutually beneficial relations with India and the priority accorded to this by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The road map charted by the two Commerce Ministries would be worked and pragmatic steps were required in this direction”.
He expressed the hope that the business community of the two countries “would have productive interaction during the upcoming meetings, including of the Joint Business Council in Islamabad, the Karachi Expo in September 2013, and the SAARC Trade Fair in India in October 2013”, the statement added.
