London, June 3 (IANS) A 30-year-old homeless man has pleaded guilty to having threatened to kill Prince Harry, police said.
Ashraf Islam was arrested after walking into a London police station where he allegedly threatened to kill the prince, the day after British soldier Drummer Lee Rigby was hacked to death on the streets of Woolwich, The Independent reported.
Islam pleaded guilty at Uxbridge Magistrates Court and is due to be sentenced. He was charged under Section 16 of the Offences Against the Person Act.
Counter-terrorism officers launched an inquiry following the incident at Hounslow police station in south-west London but did not charge Islam with terrorism offences, the Metropolitan Police said.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry’s personal security has reportedly been beefed up following the incident.
