New Delhi, June 26 (IANS) Hockey India (HI) Wednesday inducted Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as an associate member.
HI now has 13 associate, 29 affiliated and two state Olympic Association members.
CRPF can now take part in all national championships to be conducted by HI. The CRPF team has participated in All India Police Games and some major Indian tournaments such as the Nehru Cup, Surjit Singh Memorial Tournament and Beighton Cup.
“The police services have contributed immensely in the development and promotion of Indian hockey. With CRPF becoming an associate member, it will provide hockey players with job opportunities and to showcase their talent. I welcome CRPF for their entry into Hockey India, HI secretary general Narinder Batra said.
Vivek Dube is the president and Khajan Singh Tokas is the secretary general of the CRPF hockey.
