Shimla: Deploying technology to announce jobs on offer for the unemployed, the Himachal Pradesh employment department intends to use a SMS service over mobile phones for informing those registered with the unemployment cells regularly about job openings.
With this “SMS service” registered job seekers with the department would get information on their registered mobile numbers related to job fairs and job interviews to be conducted by companies.
Till now the department was only informing some of the unemployed registered with the bureau but plans have been drawn to bring all those registered into the loop and inform them through the SMS service, said Nandita Gupta, labour commissioner, Himachal.
With the bureau intending to conduct job fairs in all parts of the state, a blue print of all job seekers is being drawn up for being timely informed about the openings on offer, with timing and venues being detailed in the messaging service.
Gupta said that with the budget having been increase for the bureau, a new hi-tech information system would soon be in place.
