Gurgaon, June 20 (IANS) Haryana will soon launch a campaign to replace all defective electricity meters and computerise all electricity bill cash collection centres in the state, an official said here Thursday.
Senior officials have been directed to complete the process of replacing defective meters by the end of October this year, said Devender Singh, chairman and managing director of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN).
He added that meters with modem facility would be installed at the premises of all consumers, except farmers, having electricity requirement of 10 kilowatt or more to facilitate setting up of a new automatic meter-reading system across the state.
The new metering system will generate accurate bill amount for the power used by the consumers, Devender Singh said.
With the computerisation of the cash collection centres, he said, the bill-related complaints would be minimised and the cash deposited by consumers will be credited to their accounts immediately.
