Haryana buses refuse to enter Delhi

Chandigarh: Thousands of people were left in the lurch as buses of the state-run Haryana Roadways did not enter Delhi territory today following a protest against traffic tickets issued by the Delhi Police.Haryana buses refuse to enter Delhi

Drivers of the Haryana Roadways buses dropped passengers at various entry points to Delhi, including Kundli barrier (near Sonipat), Badarpur (near Faridabad), Rohtak Road and the Gurgaon side.

Haryana Roadways buses make nearly 1,000 trips to and from Delhi daily.

The move came despite Haryana Transport Department Director General Arun Kumar’s appeal yesterday to the Haryana Roadways employees not to cause inconvenience to the passengers by not taking their buses to Delhi.

He said that he has already taken up the matter with the Delhi Police authorities who have assured not to book the buses for the next few days.

He said that the Delhi Police authorities have also assured that the tickets would be issued only after video recording of buses.

However, leaders of Haryana Roadways employees unions said that their buses were targeted by Delhi Police’s traffic wing as they did not oblige police personnel with free rides.
