Shimla: All five passengers travelling from Ghanvi to Kyao, near Rampur township in Shimla district were killed in an accident after the vehicle went out of control and fell into a deep valley, today morning.
Sub-divisional magistrate Dalip Negi let Hill Post know over phone from the accident site that the dead included two women, two males and a girl child.
Retrieving the bodies proved to be a very difficult task, said Negi. Personnel from a nearby stationed Indo Tibetan Border Police battalion proved to be of immense help, he said.
Cause of the accident could not be ascertained but the Balero jeep was negotiating a difficult road tract in the area, when the accident is said to have occurred.
The vehicle had rolled about 600 feet into the steeply inclined valley, killed all the occupants, before it came to a halt.
Governor Urmila Singh and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh have expressed grief and sent condolences to families of the accident victims.
