London, June 17 (IANS) Indian tennis player Somdev Devvarman was eliminated in the first round of the Wimbledon men’s singles qualifiers here Monday.
The 28-year-old Devvarman, ranked 140 in the world, was upset by Australia World No.212 Matt Reid 6-7(4), 6-4, 16-18.
The Indian’s best performance on the lone grass court major came in 2011 when he reached the second round losing to Mikhail Youzhny of Russia.
The qualification rounds of The Championships started Monday while the main draw starts June 24.
