Hyderabad: Chennai-based Dark Don Racing, following an impressive showing in national car racing championship on debut last year, is all set for an entry into the 10th JK Tyre National Rotax Max Karting Championship to be held here over the weekend.
Talented Bangalore boy Kush Maini, who is currently second overall in the WSK Masters Championship, along with Divijraj Thakran (Chandigarh), Rahil Kochhar (New Delhi), Alisha Abdullah (Chennai) and Mira Erda (Vadodara) will represent Dark Don.
Alisha, the only Indian girl to compete in different forms of racing, is a household name in Indian motorsport. She will spearhead Dark Don’s campaign in Senior class while 12-year-old Erda has already made a name for herself in karting with some impressive drives last year.
Maini will participate in the junior Max category while Thakran has entered Senior Max and Kocchar in Micro Max classes.
Dark Don Racing, who made a sensational debut in the 2012 JK Tyre National Racing Championship by winning both the Formula 4 drivers’ and team titles, will be providing world famous Tony Karts imported from Singapore to its drivers, according to team owner Afsar Riyaz E.
“Karting is a stepping stone for single-seater racing. Our plan is to shape and absorb the talented drivers to our Formula car team. JK Tyre Karting Championship is the only entry-level series which has produced many a champion drivers. We hope that Dark Don will unearth some gems at the end of this season,” said Riyaz.
