Kolkata, June 5 (IANS) A proposed stake sale in state-run Coal India Ltd (CIL) is not on the government’s agenda right now, Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal has said.
“No decision has been taken till now,” Jaiswal told reporters here Tuesday when asked about the proposed Follow on Public Offer (FPO) or Offer for Sale (OFS) for divestment.
“It is too early to comment on that. It is not that I am against it, but we are not pushing it right now,” Jaiswal averred.
The central government had proposed to offload around 10 percent of its stake in the company to meet its divestment target this fiscal.
On the proposed splitting of the CIL, Jaiswal said his ministry would deliberate on the recommendation of an external agency report before taking a final call.
