Raipur, June 10 (IANS) Chhattisgarh’s opposition Congress will resume its Parivartan Yatra June 16 from near the spot where the party convoy was attacked by the Maoists May 25, killing 28 people, a party leader said Monday.
The yatra will restart from Keslur village near Jiram Ghati, the spot in Sukma district where the rebels attacked Congress leaders.
The announcement was made by Chhattisgarh’s newly-appointed Congress working president Charan Das Mahant in New Delhi after meeting party vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
Sources said that Gandhi assessed the situation at the meeting, which was attended by top Congress leaders of Chhattisgarh, and asked them to observe utmost caution and security during the Parivartan Yatra.
As many as 28 people were killed and 36 wounded, including former union minister V.C. Shukla, in the deadly May 25 Maoist attack.
