Mumbai, June 2 (IANS) The trend of bouncers surrounding celebrities when they make a public appearance is a “funny” concept, says Anupam Kher and adds that they “deprive you of love and warmth from people”.
The 58-year-old was performing his autobiographical play “Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai” in the capital and he was surrounded by a couple of security people for his protection.
“At ‘Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai’ show yesterday (Saturday), I encountered the culture of bouncers closely. They were for my safety. Felt claustrophobic,” Anupam posted on Twitter Sunday.
However, Anupam, who has acted in over 400 movies in Bollywood, finds the idea of providing security to celebrities uncalled for and feels that it stops fans from showering their warmth.
“Bouncers protecting ‘so called’ celebrities is a funny concept in India. The only thing it does is to give a false sense of importance,” he wrote.
“Bouncers deprive you of love and warmth from people. Also, I find it extremely comical,” added Anupam who has two movies lined up for release – “Yamla Pagla Deewana 2” and “Gang Of Ghosts”.
