Lucknow, June 10 (IANS) Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh Monday termed the resignation of BJP patriarch L.K. Advani as unfortunate.
Calling Advani one of the founding fathers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who worked hard to create the structure of the saffron party, Singh told reporters here that he hoped party leaders would be able to persuade Advani to withdraw his resignation from all party posts.
Singh, who has parted ways with the BJP twice in the past, was considered close to Advani over the then prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s camp. “Advani ji has been the architect of the BJP and has contributed immensely to the party since the Jan Sangh days. I am sure the issue will be sorted out soon” he said.
Singh merged his party, the Rashtriya Kranti Party (RKP), with the BJP a few months ago in the run up to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
