Kolkata, June 18 (IANS) Ruma Chatterjee, a former India international and current coach of the national cycling team, was killed Tuesday in an accident on a road that connects Delhi with Noida.
Ruma, who hails fron Kolkata, was attending the national camp ahead of the Indian team’s visit to Switzerland for training. The four-member Indian team was to participate in the World Championship in Scotland.
The 51-year-old was hit by a speeding vehicle during a training session on the road. She died on the spot.
Ruma, a spinster, leaves behind her 77-year-old mother and five sisters.
She represented India thrice in international competition. She served as coach seven times, including the CWG at New Delhi, Asian Games and Asian championship.
