Chennai, May 2 (IANS) Telugu filmmaker YVS Chowdary, who is awaiting the release of his directorial venture “Rey”, is keen to direct sequels to two of his Telugu hits — “Lahiri Lahiri Lahirilo” and “Seethayya” — over the next two years.
“As soon as I complete ‘Rey’, I will begin work on two sequels to my hit films. While ‘Krishna Mukunda Murari’ will be a sequel to ‘Lahiri Lahiri Lahirilo’; ‘Evari Mata Veenadu’ will be a sequel to action-drama ‘Seethayya’,” Chowdary told IANS.
“I’m done with the scripting for the both the films and will soon start hunting for the cast. Scripting usually takes a lot of time. Therefore, I completed it even before announcing the film. I will start working on one of the films very soon,” he added.
He will also produce the films under his home banner Bommarillu Films.
Asked if he believe there is a market for sequels, he said: “Sequels to hit films always have a good market provided they are made with a distinction. Audiences would love to know how the story of a successful prequel will be taken forward.”
Since nearly two years, Chowdary has been busy shooting for Telugu musical love story “Rey”.
“It’s a musical love story featuring two debutants. I spent more time on the project because it required such attention and since most of the film was shot abroad, we had to spend a lot of time travelling,” he added.
The film features Chiranjeevi’s nephew Varun Tej and Shabana Azmi’s niece Saiyami Kher in lead roles. It also features Shraddha Das in an important role.
