London, May 6 (IANS) Internationally renowned filmmaker Wong Kar-wai was honoured as Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters, France’s highest cultural honour in celebration of his lengthy career.
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius presented the honour to the 54-year-old filmmaker at a ceremony in Hong Kong Sunday.
On receiving the honour Kar-Wai said the award is “in a way, a tribute to Hong Kong cinema”, and that France is cinema’s “spirit home”, reports contactmusic.com.
The other recipients of the award include Clint Eastwood, Bruce Willis, Mrinal Sen and David Bowie.
