New Delhi, May 27 (IANS) Indian cricket board vice-president Arun Jaitley Monday assured that “tough action” will be taken against those guilty in the spot fixing scam unearthed in the Indian Premier League.
“The anti-corruption unit of the BCCI is looking into these matters. The Supreme Court has given it 15 days’ time, it will give its report, it will come up before the disciplinary committee,” said Jaitley, who also heads Disciplinary Committee of the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI).
“Be rest assured, we are going to take a very tough view on the matter,” Jaitley told reporters here.
The IPL scam, which seems to be getting bigger by the day, came to light when Rajasthan Royals cricketers S. Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested on spot fixing charges May 16.
BCCI president N. Srinivasan was also dragged in the controversy after his son-in-law and chief executive of Chennai Super Kings team Gurunath Meiyappan was arrested by Mumbai police.
