Use social media to reach out to youth: Modi

New Delhi, May 21 (IANS) Attending his first meeting of the BJP’s parliamentary board after being re-inducted in the central team, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday suggested using social media to reach out to the youth.

“Modi suggested how social media can be used as a tool to reach out to the young people,” Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ananth Kumar told reporters after the meet.

Modi also said the party should evaluate the failures of the Congress-led UPA, and take the message to the people.

“He suggested that the failures of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government should be discussed in details in the national executive, and then should be brought to the attention of people of India,” Ananth Kumar added.

The BJP’s national executive will meet in June.

Speculation has been rife over Modi being the BJP’s likely prime ministerial candidate. However, there has been differences in the party over the issue.

The allies of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have also been opposing projection of the Gujarat chief minister as the party’s prime ministerial candidate.

Modi’s re-induction in the BJP parliamentary board was seen as an indication towards his claim for the top post. His close aide Amit Shah has also been made election in-charge of Uttar Pradesh for the 2014 general elections.
