New Delhi, May 27 (IANS) Even as filmmaker Sudhir Mishra’s plans to make a film on Mehrunnisa are underway, a TV show on the twentieth wife of Mughal emperor Jehangir is also said to in the pipeline.
EPIC, an upcoming genre-specific channel offering content related to Indian history, folklore and mythology only, may serve the show on its platter.
“We have acquired the exclusive rights for Indu Sundaresan’s acclaimed novel ‘The Twentieth Wife’, which describes the captivating story of grand passion and adventure, of one of India’s most controversial empresses in the Mughal empire – Mehrunnisa,” Mahesh Samat, managing director, Epic Television Network Pvt. Ltd., told IANS.
If all goes as planned, EPIC will begin telecast of serial in August.
“It will offer meaningful entertainment based on our Indian past,” added Samat.
Meanwhile, if reports are to be believed, Bollywood actress Chitrangda Singh is said to have taken on the lead role in Sudhir Mishra’s film on the empress.
