New Delhi, May 3 (IANS) A violent clash between inmates of the high-security Tihar Jail here Friday left one dead and four injured, police said.
A 27-year-old inmate died in the clash.
The incident occurred around 6.30 a.m. when the inmates were being shifted to other cells in Jail Number 1.
“Javed, who was lodged in the prison for seven years, has died,” Tihar Jail officer Sunil Gupta told IANS.
The injured have been admitted to Deen Dayal Upadhayay Hospital in west Delhi.
A probe has been ordered and some inmates have been questioned, Gupta said.
The clash occurred on a day when security in prisons across India, including in Tihar Jail, was beefed up for Pakistani inmates after the assault and death of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh in a Pakistani jail.
