Chennai, May 30 (IANS) Karunuday Singh scored a shock 6-2, 6-3 win over second seed Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan en route to the singles semi-finals of the MPTA ITF Men’s Futures tennis tournament here Thursday.
Meanwhile, top Seed Sriram Balaji started tentatively to drop the first set before overcoming Japan’s Bumpei Sato, the sixth seed, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 to also book his berth in the semi-finals.
Karunuday, seeded eighth, served strongly and played to a plan to got the better of a very tentative Jeevan in the first set. Karunuday kept up the pressure to sail through in the second set quite comfortably.
