Mumbai, May 29 (IANS) BCCI president N. Srinivasan Wednesday hinted he will not quit despite the arrest of his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan over spot fixing in cricket.
He said Indian Premier League chairman Rajeev Shukla’s plea to him to “stay away” during the probe against Meiyappan, chief executive of Chennai Super Kings, was a mere reiteration of what he (Srinivasan) himself had stated earlier.
“The commission is independent… I had said I will have nothing to do with it… This is what Shukla has also said. He has only reiterated what I stated in Kolkata,” he said.
Srinivasan said the panel appointed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India to investigate the alleged links between Meiyappan and bookies in IPL matches would be an independent venture.
