Spanish painter creates murals for elite school in China

Shanghai, May 4 (IANS/EFE) Spanish painter Laura Iniesta has been chosen to create two murals for the expanded Shanghai campus of the prestigious China-Europe International Business School, or CEIBS, a project designed by prize-winning architect I.M. Pei.

The two murals will decorate two large interior walls illuminated by two large windows in one of the main buildings of the expansion.

“With these two murals we have tried to reflect two ideas or two characteristics that I believe very important, both in life and, particularly, in business: emotion and reason,” Iniesta told EFE Friday, who after almost six weeks of work on the premises has almost finished both paintings.

In this way, “Seny” (“reasonable” in Catalan) and “Rauxa” (“overcome with emotion”), both on 9 by 11-meter wooden panels, or as tall as three storeys of the building where they will be installed, will be a beacon in the new school facilities from the very first moment.

Spain is one of the European countries most involved since the school’s foundation in the creation and promotion of the institute, through whose halls pass every year a great part of the present and future entrepreneurial elite of China and all Asia.

CEIBS receives financial support from the Spanish government and from some of Spain’s leading firms, including La Caixa, Santander, Banco de Sabadell and Telefonica.
