Mumbai, May 17 (IANS) Sonu Sood confesses that he was so eager to work with filmmaker Ramesh Taurani that he gave his nod for “Ramaiya Vasta Vaiya” without even having read the script.
“Ramaiya Vasta Vaiya”, launch pad of Taurani’s son Girish Kumar, is produced under the Tips Industries Ltd banner. Shruti Haasan plays the female lead in it.
“I was in Canada when I got the call for the film and without even reading the script, I immediately said, ‘Yes, I will definitely do it’,” the 40-year-old said here in an interview.
“This is because when I came to Mumbai 10 years ago, I met Rameshji (Taurani) and asked him, ‘When will I get a film?’ And he said, ‘Very soon.’ But it took him 10 years to take me (in a film),” added Sonu, who has also been signed by Taurani for an Akshay Kumar-starrer.
In “Ramaiya Vasta Vaiya”, set for July 19 release, Sonu plays Shruti’s strict brother.
“Ramaiya Vasta Vaiya” has been directed by Prabhudheva and also features veteran actors Vinod Khanna and Randhir Kapoor.
