Mumbai, May 14 (IANS) Internationally acclaimed Islamic scholar, author and social leader Asghar Ali Engineer passed away here Tuesday after a prolonged illness. He was 74.
He is survived by his son Irfaan and daughter Seema Indorewala.
Engineer, who had been ailing for several months, breathed his last at his Santacruz east residence around 8 a.m., Irfaan said.
The funeral is likely to be conducted in Mumbai Wednesday, he said.
