Bangalore, May 18 (IANS) The last league tie of the Pepsi IPL-6 between hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Super Kings Chennai (CSK) was reduced to eight overs after heavy rains delayed its start by three hours at the Chinnaswamy stadium late Saturday.
“Both teams will play eight overs each instead of the stipulated 20 overs as heavy and extended rains put off its start to 11pm instead of the scheduled 8 p.m.,” a Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) told IANS.
Of the eight overs, power play has been restricted to two from six and three bowlers will bowl two overs each and one bowler one over each.
Having won the much-delayed toss, Chennai skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni opted to field, putting a desperate home team to bat first on a patchy wet outfield.
Thousands of frenzied fans, who waited patiently to watch even a truncated game, were excited to see their stars in the middle.
