Chandigarh: Pakistan Prime Minister designate Nawaz Sharif nominating Ramesh Singh Dogra as a Sikh member of Pakistan Provincial Assembly has been hailed by Congress in Indian Punjab.
Partap Singh Bajwa, President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) today thanked Nawaz Sharif President of Pakistan Muslim League-N for nominating Ramesh Singh Arora as the first Sikh member of Pakistan Provincial Assembly.
Nawaz Sharif has made a great goodwill gesture towards Sikh community and it will go a long way to create harmonious relations between India and Pakistan, said Bajwa in the communiqué released to the media.
People of Punjab in particular were grateful to Nawaz Sharif for giving equal opportunity to a member of minority community.
Ramesh Singh Arora is a social activist based out of Islamabad. He is also a member of Minority Commission of Paksitan and is linked to several NGOs.
Arora is presently CEO of MOJAZ foundation, a not-for profit organization to serve the vulnerable and underserved segment of Pakistan.
