PM must quit: BJP

Kolkata, May 16 (IANS) The BJP Thursday demanded Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s resignation in view of the series of scams during the UPA rule and said it would contest the 2014 polls on its own strength in West Bengal.

Asking the prime minister to put in his papers by taking moral responsibility for the scams, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan told reporters that his party would try to increase the number of its allies in the National Democratic Alliance to “free the country from the Congress misrule”.

Pradhan attacked the United Progressive Alliance government in New Delhi for the “series of scams” from Coalgate to the fresh “railway bribery case”, and said: “We strongly feel the prime minister should take moral responsibility and resign.”

He conceded that the NDA needed to rope in more allies. “But as for Bengal, I can tell you will will fight the next Lok Sabha polls on our won strength, irrespective of the fact that we are a small force in the state”.
