Pakistan human right panel lauds voters

Islamabad, May 11 (IANS) The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) Saturday congratulated the people of the country for showing faith in democracy despite threats to their lives.

In a statement issued after the conclusion of polling‚ the commission condemned all those responsible for interfering with the people’s right to vote, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.

The HRCP expressed hope that those elected will honour the principles of democracy with the same zeal and commitment that the Pakistani people displayed during balloting.
