New Delhi: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought a report from the Haryana government over the death of two labourers while cleaning a sewer line at a factory in the state’s Bahalgarh town of Sonipat district.
“Notices have been issued to the chief secretary of Haryana and district magistrate of Sonipat, calling for a report in the matter within four weeks,” an NHRC official said.
The incident took place on March 25 when three labourers — Rajender, Sanjay and Naveen — went down a sewer line to clean it. An alarm was raised when they did not return and had to be pulled out after some time by their colleagues.
While Rajender and Sanjay died in the sewer, Naveen was admitted to a hospital in an unconscious state.
