New Delhi, May 30 (IANS) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Thursday sought a report from Manipur over alleged gross irregularities in mid-day meal schemes in the state-run schools.
The notice was issued following a complaint by a non government organisation (NGO) which alleged that the rice earmarked for school children were being sold in the black market with the connivance of school authorities as such the stipulated amount was not reaching the students.
“Chief secretary, Manipur has been issued notice to submit the report in the matter within four weeks,” said an official of the NHRC.
