Moscow, May 27 (IANS/RIA Novosti) A 35-year-old woman died and her baby was injured when a dump truck smashed into a house in Russia’s Perm region, the interior department said.
The truck rammed into a two-apartment one-storey house Sunday in Kungur town, causing the collapse of a house wall.
The woman and her little baby lived in the house. The truck’s driver and a passenger were hospitalised.
“The woman who suffered in the accident, the mother of a little baby, has died in hospital from injuries,” the interior department said.
The condition of the baby, who is less than one year old, was not life-threatening.
Police are investigating why the truck suddenly crossed over into the opposite lane and smashed into the house. The driver is being tested for alcoholic intoxication.
About 30,000 people die in traffic accidents in Russia annually.
