New Delhi, May 13 (IANS) An eight-year-old girl was recovered from Kanpur railway station a few hours after she went missing from New Delhi railway station Monday, police said.
“Acting swiftly on the complaint given by the mother of the missing girl, police with the help of GRP (Government Railway Police), traced the girl to (Uttar Pradesh’s) Kanpur railway station,” said Additional Commissioner of Police Ravindra Yadav.
The girl’s mother had reported that she had come to New Delhi Railway Station to board Mahabodhi Express from platform number 8. There was heavy rush at the platform and suddenly, she realized that her daughter was missing.
“It was suspected that the girl might have boarded the train. Therefore, Uttar Pradesh’s GRP was contacted and requested to search the girl in the train,” Yadav said.
The girl has been reunited with the family after being brought back to Delhi.
