Chennai, May 24 (IANS) Cement major India Cements Ltd. Friday said that Gurunath Meiyappan, who has been summoned by Mumbai police for his alleged role in the spot fixing scam, is not the owner/CEO/team principal of IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings.
In a statement issued here by the company’s executive director T.S.Raghupathy said: “India Cements clarifies that Mr. Gurunath Meiyappan is neither the Owner, nor CEO / Team Principal of Chennai Super Kings. Mr. Gurunath is only one of the Members (Honorary) of the Management Team of Chennai Super Kings.”
According to the statement, India Cements follows zero tolerance policy for corruption and if anyone is proved guilty, strict action will be taken immediately. India Cements assures full cooperation with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the law enforcement authorities.”
Meiyappan is married to Rupa Gurunath, wholetime director at India Cements and daughter of the company’s vice chairman and managing director N.Srinivasan.
Srinivasan is also president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
