New Delhi, May 20 (IANS) The National Green Tribunal (NGT) Monday ordered the demolition of all unauthorised structures on the flood plains and river beds of Yamuna and Hindon rivers in Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, officials said.
“All illegal and unauthorized constructions either temporary or permanent and raised without the permission of any competent authority are to be demolished in Haryana, UP (Uttar Pradesh) and Delhi,” said a statement issued by NGT – a dedicated tribunal for expeditious disposal of environment-related cases.
“Authorities including the police and irrigation department are required to check that no other unauthorized construction is carried out further,” added the statement.
The NGT also asked the concerned authorities to find out whether any government department issued no-objection certificates for the illegal constructions.
