Islamabad, May 12 (IANS) Former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has been defeated in the National Assembly elections, a media report said Sunday.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Raja Pervez Ashraf suffered a defeat in NA-51, Geo News reported.
According to unofficial and initial results, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Raja Mohammad Javed Ikhlas won the seat.
Ikhlas got 82,339 while Raja Pervez Ashraf secured 23,233 votes.
Ashraf had replaced Yousuf Raza Gilani as prime minister last year in the midst of a battle with the Supreme court over the issue of writing a letter to Swiss authorities to reopen a graft case against President Asif Ali Zardari.
