Thiruvananthapuram, May 9 (IANS) Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty Thursday said 40 projects have materialised out of the Emerging Kerala meet held in Kochi last September.
Kunhalikutty said details of the projects would be revealed during the second anniversary celebrations of the Oommen Chandy-led government May 18. “Each department is getting ready to present their status report on what has transpired at the Emerging Kerala meet,” he said.
“We have got excellent response from major companies after the event and a truck manufacturing company and a dairy company have expressed interest to invest here but due to constraints, we are unable to name these companies, as talks are still going on,” said the minister.
Additional chief secretary V. Somasundaram said the industries department has cleared 30 projects. The tourism department has cleared seven projects while in the higher education sector German companies like Benz and Bosch have decided to collaborate with leading education institutes here to run training courses.
“In the next two years we will have to identify around 1,500 acres of land for the various other projects that are in the pipeline,” added Somasundaram.
