Pune, May 3 (IANS) Parikshit Somani (Assam) and Zeel Desai (Gujarat) won a double apiece in the boys and girls sections, respectively, in the Om Dalvi Memorial ATF Asian Under-14 Series tennis tournament 2013, here Friday.
In the boys’ singles final, top seeded Somani easily accounted for Utkarsh Bharadwaj of Karnataka 6-2, 6-0, while Sumit Pal Singh (Delhi) won the third place scoring a 5-3, 4-0 win over S Manish.
Somani then tied up with Sumit Pal Singh to claim the doubles title defeating Kunj Kotak and Kabir Manrai 6-4, 6-3.
Second seeded Zeel Desai, who is supported by Sports NGO Lakshya, runner-up here last year, stopped the winning run of Maharashtra’s Pareen Shivekar 6-4, 6-3, and Hyderabad’s Sama Sathvika trounced Pune girl Shivani Ingle 4-0,4-1 for the third position
Desai then teamed up with Sumit Pal Singh’s younger sister Prinkle Singh, to lift the doubles crown defeating Shivani Ingle and Sama Sathwika 6-7 (3), 6-3, 10-7.
The singles winners received300 ATF points, the runners-up 200 and thethirdposition 150 points while the doubles champions picked up 50 and the runners-up 30.
