New Delhi, May 22 (IANS) The Delhi government Wednesday sternly told electricity distribution companies that it will not tolerate load shedding in the capital as power is available in surplus.
In the wake of reported load shedding by these companies in the last three days, the government called a review meeting Wednesday.
“Principal secretary (power) has asked the power companies to pull up their socks to ensure uninterrupted supply in this summer season as the availability has been much higher than the peak demand,” said an official of the Delhi government.
He said that the difference between the availability and peak power demand has been hovering between 500 to 800 MW.
“There is no ground for power cuts. The city government would not tolerate such load shedding,” he added.
The principal secretary (power) also stated that the load shedding might have been taking place purely on account of technical faults, which are to be taken care by the respective distribution companies.
