New Delhi, May 23 (IANS) Delhi Police Thursday contacted their counterparts in Mumbai seeking details about the articles seized from the hotel where tainted cricketer S. Sreesanth stayed, said a police official.
The official said they have asked Mumbai police’s Crime Branch to provide them details about the CCTV footage of the hotel where Sreesanth stayed, which was different from where the rest of his Rajasthan Royals inmates were staying.
In a written letter to their Mumbai counterparts, Delhi Police also sought to be provided some other articles of Sreesanth like his laptop and mobile phone which were recovered from the hotel.
According to the official, Sreesanth was residing in Hotel Sofitel after being suspended from team for fighting with coach Paddy Upton for dropping him from the team after May 9 Indian Premier League (IPL) match. Police claim that this was one in which he indulged in spot-fixing.
“He consumed alcohol and fought with the coach after he was dropped from the team after the May 9 match. For this, he was suspended from the team. That was why he was not staying in Hotel Trident where other players were staying. He separately booked into Hotel Sofitel,” the official said.
