Hyderabad, May 9 (IANS) BSR Congress party’s newly elected legislators B. Sriramulu and T. H. Suresh Babu Thursday called on their leader and former Karnataka minister G. Janardhana Reddy in Chanchalguda central jail here.
The party floated by Sriramulu, a close associate of Janardhana Reddy, won four seats in Karnataka assembly elections, the results of which were declared Wednesday.
Sriramulu, who won from Bellary Rural constituency, told reporters after the meeting that people blessed their party with four seats. He said as a fledgling party, it had some problems but hoped that it would get more public support in future.
Suresh Babu, who is nephew of Sriramulu, was elected from Kampli, also in the iron-ore rich Bellary district.
Janardhana Reddy is in jail for more than the last one and half years in the illegal mining case against his Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh district bordering Karnataka.
Meanwhile, Janardhana Reddy said the BSR Congress would emerge as a key political force in Karnataka. He told reporters while being shifted back to jail after his appearance in a court here Thursday that he was not disappointed over the polls results.
The mining baron said Sriramulu had a bright future.
