Gaborone (Bostwana), May 4 (IANS) Botswana national football team coach Stanley Tshosane has announced a provisional squad in preparation for a friendly against former African champions Egypt June 4.
The squad, made up of entirely local players is expected to assemble Sunday to start preparations for the tie that will be played in Cairo.
Tshosane told Xinhua in an interview Friday that he will use the high profile friendly against the ‘Pharaohs’ to prepare his team for a hectic period towards the end of the year starting with the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia.
Botswana will return immediately after the Egypt friendly to host Ethiopia in Lobatse June 8th before welcoming Central Africa Republic (CAR) a week later, still in the World Cup qualifiers.
The Zebras have to get their qualifiers back on track as they are currently languishing at the bottom of Group A with only two points from three matches. Their final qualification match will he away to neighbouring South Africa in September.
