Hyderabad, May 22 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wednesday urged Andhra Pradesh Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to sack six allegedly tainted state ministers.
A delegation of BJP leaders called on the governor and submitted a memorandum, seeking the dismissal of the ministers facing corruption allegations.
BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya told reporters that they urged the governor to take action as the head of the state.
He said two ministers charged in YSR Congress party leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s illegal assets case had resigned but the other tainted ministers should also quit.
Dattatreya said three other ministers were also issued notices by the Supreme Court in the same case while three others were involved in other alleged irregularities.
Home Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy and Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao Monday submitted their resignations to Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.
The two ministers were named as accused in the chargesheets filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation in Jaganmohan Reddy’s case.
Communist Party of India state secretary K. Narayana demanded that all tainted ministers should resign.
He said the ministers facing allegations should resign on their own and if they failed to do so, the chief minister should sack them.
Main opposition Telugu Desam Party has already submitted memorandums to President Pranab Mukherjee and the governor to sack the tainted ministers.
