New Delhi, May 17 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members Friday raised the issue of the 2G spectrum scam at the first meeting of the reconstituted Public Accounts Commitee of parliament, said informed sources.
According to the sources, BJP’s Prakash Javadekar raised the issue of PAC’s draft report on 2G scam, noting it was still pending and asking when would it be taken up.
The report of the previous PAC on 2G spectrum scam ran into controversy as Congress, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party members rejected the draft and elected Congress’ Saifuddin Soz as the chairman after then chief Murli Manohar Joshi walked out.
The leaked draft report of PAC had indicted former telecom minister A. Raja and slammed Prime Minister’s Office in the allocation of 2G spectrum for not takingh corrective action.
The draft report of the Joint Parliamentary Committee looking into the 2G spectrum allocation has given a clean chit to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram but charged Raja with wrong-doing. The draft report has divided the panel.
