Hyderabad/New Delhi, May 24 (IANS) Another bookie was arrested in the Indian Premier League IPL spot fixing scandal Friday from Hyderabad, Delhi Police sources said.
Mohammad Ahya was arrested at the Hyderabad airport while trying to flee to Dubai, the sources said.
“Other bookies revealed his name during interrogation. We will be bringing him to Delhi,” a Delhi Police official said. This takes the number of arrests in the IPL spot fixing case to 19.
Ahya, based in Mumbai, was arrested Friday by Delhi Police at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad on the city’s outskirts when he was about to board a flight to Dubai early Friday, police sources said here.
He had reached Hyderabad from Mumbai by road and was trying to flee the country. Sources said that a team of Delhi Police had taken him to the national capital.
IPL Rajasthan Royals’ cricketer S. Sreesanth, two other players of the team and actor Vindoo Dara Singh are among those arrested by Delhi Police.
