Kabul, May 29 (IANS) Afghan army and police supported by NATO-led forces have eliminated 29 Taliban militants and detained 45 others in different operations across the country, the interior ministry said Wednesday.
Eight militants were wounded during the operations in Baghlan, Kapisa, Badakhshan, Sari Pul, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Ghazni, Paktiya and Helmand provinces, Xinhua cited the ministry as saying.
The statement did not say if there were any casualties among the security forces.
Since the beginning of this month, nearly 400 insurgents have been killed and over 230 others detained during military operations across the country, according to figures released by the ministry.
The Taliban did not make any comment.
