Kabul, May 26 (IANS) As many as 19 militants were killed in eastern Afghan provinces during operations that started Saturday, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said Sunday.
“Afghan National Security and coalition forces killed 19 insurgents, discovered two weapons caches, and found and safely cleared 11 improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern Afghanistan in the past 24 hours,” reported Xinhua citing an ISAF statement.
The raids were conducted in Ghazni, Kapisa, Laghman, Logar, Nangarhar, Paktiya and Wardak provinces.
While 16 militants were killed in Ghazni province, three killed in Logar province, it added.
The Taliban did not make any immediate comment.
